It’s great news for patients of the Sauble Family Health Team.
Manager John Golanch says they are getting ready to move into the new 1.4 million dollar Sauble Area Wellness Centre.
Golanch says they signed the lease in the fall, but had to wait until the building was ready for them.
Golanch says before the Sauble Area Wellness Centre was built, there was no location in town big enough for them and that’s why they opened 2 smaller clinics.
Golanch says the space is about double what they have now – they’ll go from having about 6 examination rooms to 10, including specialized rooms for wheelchairs and children, and also be able to expand their waiting room.
He adds it’s going to be great to have all their staff and services consolidated under one roof, making it a one stop location for their patients.
While the Sauble Family Health Team will be the first tenants of the Sauble Area Wellness Centre, others are slated to move in later this year.
Golanch says with other medical related professionals in the building, patients will find it very convenient.
Golanch says they will continue to serve only their current 14-hundred patients, but the new space does leave room for expansion.
He says they are hiring another nurse practitioner and will submit an expansion budget with a request for more staff to the Ministry of Health after they’ve settled in.
While a replacement for Dr. Shazia Ambreen has not be found since she resigned this winter, local doctors will continue to staff the clinic once a week.
Golanch says they hope to start moving over from their 2 locations this June and be ready to open on July 1st.
The Sauble Area Wellness Centre is located at 672 Main Street.
