Drew Wright is taking a break from working on a new album to head to Mexico, but it’s not exactly a vacation.
Collingwood has asked the singer to be the town’s good will ambassador at the 6th annual International Guitar Festival in Zihuatanejo.
Zihuatanejo is Collingwood’s sister city.
Wright says he’s looking forward to playing at the festival and hearing the other performers playing at a number of different local clubs.
He says he’ll also be meeting with the city’s new mayor on behalf of Collingwood.
Wright says he’s excited about the two week trip and can’t wait to fly out early Saturday morning from Toronto.
He says he’s thankful he was asked to be the good will amabassador and that the town and BIA are paying for the trip, but Wright says he doesn’t know how much it cost.
Wright arrives home on April 4th.
Wright and his band Fall and Divide hope to release an EP in May.
