Who says there’s an economic downturn?
Creemore Springs Brewery Limited is doing very well, and brewmaster Gordon Fuller says they’ve come a long way since they first opened their doors back in 1987.
Sales are up 8 percent in the past year, and the amount of staff working there hasn’t changed either since the economic slide started.
Creemore Springs currently employs about 70 people.
Fuller says where sales are going has changed though, and he’s noticed they are selling a little less to bars and restaurants, and more to individuals.
He says that means people aren’t going to bars as much, and appear to be taking their drink of choice home with them instead.
He says the founder of the brewery didn’t want to sell beer outside a 50 km circle from the Brewery.
That didn’t last long though.
Fuller says that they had restaurants and interested parties asking them is they’d sell beer to them, even though they were outside that circle.
He says they now ship their beer to 320 LCBO stores, and they have about the same number of beer stores they deliver to as well.
Fuller says they have about 1 thousand bars and licence’s as well that they deliver to.
He says they can bottle 170 bottles per minute, and they can fill 190 cans per minute.
