The Hanover and District Hospital could be attracting another surgeon.
CEO Katrina Wilson announced at this week’s monthly Board meeting that the hospital is in talks with a plastic surgeon who specializes in hands.
She says it is more of therapy surgery rather than cosmetic surgery.
The surgeon will be coming to Hanover April 24th to have a look at the hospital.
Wilson says she can not release the name of the doctor as they are still in negotiations.
But she did say the doctor first approached the hospital after learning that they can provide operating room time for his practice.
Wilson says there are specialists who are being squeezed out of busier centres.
She says there is a surgeon who handles orthopaedics, another from Owen Sound that does colonoscopy, and an ear, nose, and throat specialist that does things like tonsillectomies.
Wilson says the operating rooms at the hospital is becoming very busy and it is growing.
