A retiree in Wasaga Beach is suing the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for 45 million dollars
A statement of claim filed Tuesday on behalf of Pawel Kusznirewicz says that last December 8th — a prize of 42.9 million dollars appeared on the video screen of a Buccaneer slot machine he was playing at Georgian Downs in Barrie.
He claims despite the sounds and flashing lights of the machine indicating a win, staff reported the machine malfunctioned and he was not entitled to any prize.
Instead, Kusznirewicz was offered four free buffet dinners.
He says staff took pictures of the machine and then turned it off but never told him what was wrong with it.
Kusznierwicz says he told the supervisor that he as going to get a lawyer — and he claims the supervisor told him to go ahead.
The lawsuit also seeks a million dollars in general, aggravated and punitive damages as well as costs.
None of the allegations have been proven in court, and the OLG is standing by its claim that the machine malfunctioned.
