The Municipality of North Huron has its work cut out for it when it comes to diverting recyclable waste from landfills.
North Huron has been singled out as among the five municipalities in the province with the lowest rate of putting recyclables in blue-boxes.
The information comes from the organization Waste Diversion Ontario and it also mentions the Chippewas of Kettle and Stoney Point First Nation for its low diversion rate.
Waste diversion is aimed at cleaning up the environment while extending the lives of municipal landfills.
Waste Diverson Ontario says among urban areas, Stratford is 137th-best at separating recyclables of the 206 municipalities it looked at.
London is close, at 139th.
Sarnia is just makes it into the upper half with a ranking of 89th.
