Walkerton is one game away from another Western Junior C championship.
The Hawks crushed the visiting Hanover Barons last night to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Another jam-packed crowd at the Walkerton Community Centre last night saw the Hawks open up a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Hanover Barons.
Greg Wardell, Andy Mitchell, and Bill Terpstra continue to be the dominant line for the Hawks combining for 6 points in the game.
The Hawks got off to a great start with goals from Terpstra, Wardell, and two from Trevor Harper before Jim Hutchinson replied for the Barons.
Walkerton chased Barons goaltender Michael Nigalis from the game late in the second period after a goal by Mitch Allen.
Nigalis was replaced by Scott Kuglin.
Drew Davidson and Kevin Czuczman rounded out the scoring for the Hawks who now take a 3 games to 2 lead in the best-of-seven Western Junior C finals.
Hawks goaltender Clayton Fritsch was spectacular once again in net making 36 saves for the win.
The Hawks can wrap up a second-straight championship with a win in Game 6 Tuesday night at the Hanover Coliseum.
