In these though economic times, Collingwood is getting more affordable housing.
Council has voted to turn all 30 apartment units to be built at 145 High Street into affordable rentals.
Mayor Chris Carrier says last year the plan was for 18 of the units to be affordable with the others at higher market rates.
But Carrier says there is now more government funding available.
He says council is asking the County to request 840 thousand dollars from the Affordable Housing Program run by the province.
Carrier says making all 30 apartments affordable is subject to getting the funding, but he doesn’t anticipate any problems with that.
Mayor Carrier says the apartment building should be ready by late summer or early fall.
