Lots of scoring and great goaltending equals a win for the Walkerton Hawks.
The defending Western Junior C champs powered their way to a 6-2 win over the visiting Hanover Barons.
Nearly a thousand at the Walkerton Community Centre last night saw the Hawks go up 2 games to 1 in the Western Junior C best-of-seven championship finals.
The Barons opened up the scoring with a first period goal but then the Hawks scored three times in the second period and three more in the third to seal the win.
Trevor Harper led the scoring for the Hawks with two goals.
Kevin Quincey, Ryan Amyot, Tanner Shlakat and Mike Rostek also scored for Walkerton.
Kevin Tremble and Jim Hutchinson answered for the Barons, both on the power play.
Mike Roelofsen and Trevor Smith each had 3 assists in the game.
Clayton Fritsch was stellar in net for the Hawks making 32 saves in the victory.
The Hawks fired 35 shots at both Michael Nigalis and Scott Kuglin.
Game 4 goes tonight in Hanover at the Coliseum at 8:30 PM.
