Some funding for Grey Bruce Health Services.
Frontline nurses will soon have access to electronic handheld devices.
Grey Bruce Health Services has received 53 thousand dollars in one time funding from the province, as part of a province-wide initiative.
The funds will be used to purchase 25 electronic handheld devices for nurses.
Interim President and CEO Maureen Solecki says the devices are designed to easily check on a patients status.
Solecki says one device will be dedicated to nursing escorts in every hospital, which is when a nurse goes on an ambulance transport between hospitals with a patient.
She says they will also be used by infection control practitioners and clinical nurse educators who work across the region.
Solecki says the devices are necessary because we live in an electronic based world.
She adds, information and best practise changes on a regular basis so access to that information is crucial for proper care.
She says they are extremely pleased to receive the funding because it will improve patient outcome by allowing nurses fingertip access.
