Tiger Woods is well off the lead after the opening round of the C-A Championship at Doral in Florida. He shot an opening round 1-under-71, leaving him six shots off the pace.
Jeev M. Singh, Retief Goosen, Prayad Marksaeng, and Phil Mickelson share the lead at 7-under, one stroke ahead of Nick Watney, Rod Pampling and James Kingston.
Looking for his fourth win in five years at Doral, Woods made three birdies and two bogeys. He had plenty of other chances but was a highly uncharacteristic 1-for-11 on putts of 10 feet or longer, including at least three that hit the hole and lipped out.
