Some Bruce County administration staff will be taking an additional day off.
The County went through a 6-month trial period where the Clerks Department experimented with a 4-day work week.
The Corporate Services Committee passed a recommendation from Clerk and Treasurer Bettyanne Cobean yesterday expanding the 4-day work week to other areas.
Cobean says they came up with the idea of a short work week as a way for her staff to have some flexibility.
She says she knows some staff have to deal with the stress of balancing work and family.
She says if your staff is not healthy or satisfied then it is going to reflect in their job performance.
Cobean says they have enough staff to accommodate one or two taking either the Monday or Friday off.
She says it is optional to work a 4-day week and staff can continue to work a 5-day week.
She says her staff knows what their responsibilities are and doesn’t have to ask them what to do.
Cobean says the public will not notice the changes in the services.
She says there is no reduction in staff levels and they have the personnel to do the work.
Employees who opt for a 4-day work week must make a commitment to do so each week for a minimum length of time and make sure that their responsibilities are covered when they do take an off day.
