Sauble Beach is getting a new sewer system.
The sewer designs are currently in the works and construction is to begin this fall.
South Bruce Peninsula Public Works Manager Brad McRoberts says if they begin in 2009, construction should be complete by the end of 2010.
McRoberts says the estimated cost of the project is 10.5 million dollars.
7 million dollars in infrastructure money is being provided through the Canada Build Fund to cover two-thirds of the cost, which means 3.5 million will be provided by the town.
McRoberts says this initiative is a top priority because currently there are no services in Sauble Beach.
He says there are a lot of homes which do not have adequate septic services.
McRoberts says having a sanitary sewer system will be a huge benefit for residents.
A public meeting will be held in the next couple of months for residents who will be affected – no date has been set.
