The Owen Sound Volkswagen Junior Selects have added 2 more players.
Selects Manager Lee Jacques confirms that third basemen Dylan Cunningham and catcher Darrin Newson have been signed for the 2009 Junior Fastball season.
The addition of Cunningham and Newson virtually completes the Junior Selects roster for the upcoming season.
Jacques says the Selects were contacted by Dwayne McKenzie, a former Owen Sound catcher, who confirmed Cunningham was interested in playing for the Volkswagen club.
Newson has been a high profile prospect out of Brantford & Jacques admits they’ve been interested in him for some time.
Both Newson & Cunningham are first year Junior aged players which makes them even more appealing for the Selects.
The Selects are the host team for the 2009 Canadian Junior Men’s Championship tournament August 2nd to the 9th.
