The OSCVI Lady Falcons Girls Volleyball Team is departing today to Hawaii for a week of international competition.
The Falcons have both a Junior Girls & a Senior Girls team that competes in the Bluewater Athletic Association, but for this experience, both Seniors & Juniors plus some non-volleyball athletes from the school this year have been merged to form ” Team Hawaii “.
In order to make this trip possible financially, about $ 3,500 per person needed to be generated.
This cost was defrayed by ” Team Hawaii ” through more than a year of fundraising activities.
Coach Teresa Boley relates that Team Hawaii hosted tournaments, had raffles, sold baked goods, conducted Car Wash events and more.
Boley admits the various fundraising events provided great team spirit and served as a marvellous team building exercise.
However, she says with so many functions over the last year, ” the school will be happy to see Team Hawaii finally depart. “
Team Hawaii from the OSCVI will compete both indoors and at various Beach Volleyball matches plus do some touring and historical visits while they are away.
