Saugeen Shores Council has appointed a new Fire Chief for the town.
Phil Eagleson, who has served as Acting Chief along with being the Fire Prevention Officer for the past year now has the top job on the department.
Eagleson says there are many challenges ahead but he’s excited about the role and notes that a new truck will be delivered in May.
Eagleson says he wants to look at boundary issues with other fire departments and enter into discussions with neighbouring municipalities.
He says he’ll be developing recommendations to council on how to fill the Fire Prevention Officer position, the only other full time role in the department.
Eagleson hopes to have some support in place shortly after handling both roles for over a year.
Four candidates were interviewed for the Fire Chief’s job, and three chiefs were brought in from other parts of Ontario to help with the selection process.
