Some very special awards have been handed out to some very special women from Grey-Bruce.
At an event marking International Women’s Day in Port Elgin, five local ladies were honoured with Women of Distinction Awards.
94 year-old Thirza Donaldson has been honoured for being a loving and caring role model throughout her lifetime.
Hannelore Fulford has been recognized for her compassion and connection with the natural world displayed through her community work.
Holly Devlin has received an award for assisting people as a credit counsellor.
Abby Bolton of Port Elgin has been named a Woman of Distinction for community involvement, including founding the Saugeen Shores Offleash Dog Park.
Linda Crombeen has been honoured for her work supporting and encouraging women during her 15-year tenure as a Chief Steward for the Power Worker’s Union.
International Women’s Day Committee Chair Beverly Spence says the committee congratulates the Women of Distinction and is pleased to hand the awards to them.
