It appears the Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games will be staying under municipal control for at least another year.
The festival had been planning to become an independent organization from the municipality.
Staff revealed the information at a recent budget meeting.
Councillor Randy Roppel, a member of the committee that oversees community events says he was previously unaware the festival leadership had changed its plans but respects their decision.
Roppel says he’s not sure why the plans have changed.
He says he hasn’t been in touch with the Scottish Festival since a presentation was made to council about the plans for independence.
He says the festival has reserve funds so the decision to remain under municipal jurisdiction won’t affect taxpayers in this year’s budget.
