John Tory says he will step down as leader on the Ontario Progressive Conservatives as soon as an interim leader is selected.
The move was expected after Tory lost Thursday’s byelection in Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock to Liberal Rick Johnson.
Simcoe Grey Conservative MPP Jim Wilson says it was a shock to him that John Tory didn’t win in a riding that has been predominantly conservative for about 40 years.
Wilson says an interim leader will be chosen likely in about three weeks and then a date will be set for a party convention to choose a new leader.
We asked Wilson if he would consider running as leader and he says at this point he’s not ruling anyting out.
