We’ve got some hockey on the horizon in the city and in the Region.
Naturally, we’re at that time of the year when several communities get down to the meat of the O.M.H.A. Championships in their respective levels.
Last year, teams out of Chatsworth and Beaver Valley played some significant games in March.
In 10 days time, a first for the city of Owen Sound as the Grey Bruce Douglas Cleaners Highlander Midgets will host the 10 team S.C.T.A. Championship tournament.
We’ll talk more about that next week.
And finally, 3 weeks from tomorrow, the annual Crone Cup will be played at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore.
The game which originated 6 years ago now, will pit the OSCVI Lady Falcons against the West Hill Lady Raiders.
The day is scheduled to start at 1 pm with an hour of skills featuring Elementary School, Junior School and Secondary School students in a series of competitions.
Then at 2 pm, the rival Owen Sound High School Girls team go for the Crone Cup.
Once again this year, proceeds from the match will be directed to ” Shoot For A Cure ” and Spinal Cure Research.
But as an additional bonus, part of the money raised will also go to the Hyland Family who are facing multiple expenses after their son, Ian, was involved in a paralyzing snowboarding accident.
Elementary & Junior Schools from Kepple-Sarawak, Alexandra & Hillcrest are expected to participate along with both West Hill & Jason Crone’s old school, the OSCVI in what should once again be a very special day.
