Big changes have hit Local TV.
CTV has decided to shutdown it’s Georgian Bay repeater station of CKCO Kitchener (channel 13) in August.
It follows the announcement last week, that the Wingham and Windsor TV stations would be going dark this summer.
Meanwhile, A-Channel has cancelled it’s “A-Morning” news shows in both Barrie and London.
CTV Globemedia is cutting 118 job cuts across Canada.
For viewers, it means no local Morning TV show for Southwestern Ontario. (Not counting City TV Toronto).
In London, Station Manager Don Mumford says 14 jobs are gone from the Morning show including Long-time News anchor and host Bob Smith.
Smith has close to 30 years in the business but since it is a Union shop he may bump someone in the newsroom to keep his job.
Other high profile faces, Cheryl Weidmark and Bevan Palmateer are also on the list of staff employees facing unemployment.
There are 5 other cuts in London, 1 part time person in Wingham and 28 jobs gone in Windsor.
In Barrie, 24 jobs are gone as the morning show is eliminated.
A-Channel will re-run the evening news during the morning hours.
