Landowners affected by the proposed Bruce-to-Milton transmission line expansion are getting some advice.
About 125 people gathered in Elmwood on Sunday to hear an expert on expropriation.
One of them was West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles who says the meeting was an information session organized by some of the leaders representing the landowners.
The keynote speaker at the meeting was Ben Lansik — an appraiser with Lansik and Associates out of London.
Eccles says he was perhaps the best expert on these kinds of issues that he has heard.
He says Lansik did a very good job in describing what the Expropriation Act involves and the rights of the landowners and the proponent — Hydro One.
He says Lansik also informed those in attendance what to expect during the expropriation process and offered some advice on what to do when getting an offer.
Eccles believes many of the landowners are more educated after this meeting.
He says Hydro One will certainly be listening to these people now that they are all on the same page.
He says Hydro One needs to know that while the landowners are willing to continue to work with them, the landowners will not be pushed around.
Many landowners living along the transmission line have received offers from Hydro One but some are not satisfied with what they’ve got.
