Over 100 years of Teeswater and Culross can be found in one book.
100 people attended a book launch Saturday in Teeswater.
The Teeswater-Culross History Book Committee released a large book called All Our Yesterdays Volume 2 – An Updated History of Teeswater and Culross.
The book contains some information that was not covered in the first volume of the book that was released in 1984.
About 100 people attended an official book dedication at the Teeswater Town Hall yesterday afternoon and purchased copies of the book.
Committee Chair Ron Hill says they decided to put out another book because with the amalgamation of towns, villages, and townships into larger municipalities they fear all the recorded information and materials may get lost or set aside.
The committee was formed in 2003 and Hill says they had 11 people who were each assigned an area to research.
Hill says they were able to get help from the Bruce County Museum and Archive in Southampton, the Bruce County Genealogical Society in Port Elgin, and the Municipality of South Bruce.
He says they were also able to get a hold of 100 copies of old newspapers and had current and past residents contribute old pictures.
Hill says they had 684 pages worth of information and the committee thought about creating two books but instead decided to pare it down to one book with 650 pages with an index.
There were a small number of young people and families who were at the book dedication and bought copies of the book.
Hill says there are sections in the book about sports history and family biographies that young people will be interested in.
He says by learning about the past young people can build and improve on the future.
Copies of the book All Our Yesterdays Volume 2 – An Updated History of Teeswater and Culross can be purchased at the South Bruce municipal office in Teeswater for 50 dollars.
They are also copies that have been donated to the Bruce County Museum and Archives, the Bruce County Genealogical Society, and the Teeswater and Mildmay Libraries for viewing.
