It’s 21 months in jail, two years probation and 10 years of no driving for one of the three young men charged in the street-racing crash that killed trucker David Virgoe a year and a half ago on the 400.
Prabhjit Multani pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death.
He and two other men were racing their cars up the 400 on their way to Wasaga Beach in June of 2007 when Virgoe swerved to avoid them and rolled his big rig in a ditch. Virgoe’s been called a hero for avoiding several other cars with the truck.
The sentence given to 20 year old Prabhjit Multani satisfies Virgoe’s widow, Debbie, who said outside the courtroom that ‘it’s a start’.
One of the other drivers, 21 Nauman Nusrat pleaded guilty to the same charge a year ago and was sentenced to two years of house arrest.
Multani has been behind bars for the last six months- he had been released on bail, but was re-arrested when police caught him driving- which he was not allowed to do under his bail conditions.
