The government of Canada is now accepting employer applications for the Canada Summer Jobs 2009 program.
Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb says the program is open to all not-for-profit, public sector and small private sector employers.
A small private sector business is considered 50 employees or less.
Lobb says the intent is to provide employement for summer students from high school, college or university from six to sixteen weeks.
He says the government will fund the wages up to 100 per cent for non-profit groups and up to 50 per cent for the other categories.
Lobb says the program will encourage businesses and organizations to create jobs and allow students to gain valuable work experience.
Last year 20 thousand organizations across Canada used the program to employ 36 thousand students.
The employer application period ends on Friday.
You can apply online or at a local Service Canada Centre.
