An Inverhuron resident says federal and provincial infrastructure money recently announced for the community can’t be used to fix the drainage problem in his neighbourhood.
Six million dollars is supposed to go towards sewage and drainage system upgrades in Inverhuron.
Resident Rick Murray says he spoke with two municipal officials, and they told him the money can only be used for the sewage system.
Murray wants to clarify the situation with Mayor Larry Kraemer.
Murray says when he first the funding announcement, he was hoping he would be able to put his rubber boots away.
He says after heavy rain or melting, he has to wear them to get to his house.
Murray says his neighbour’s house becomes an island and he has to use a canoe to get to the door.
He says the water can be as deep as six or eight feet in some parts of his yard.
