Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The National Hockey League exhibition season concludes this weekend.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs, they wrap up the pre-season with a pair of games against the Detroit Red Wings; tonight in Motown and then tomorrow night in Toronto
Of course, no one wants to talk about the Leafs as a team at this moment, everybody's focal point is Auston Matthews, more specifically his butt which up on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Everyone wants to talk about that. Me, I'm more interested in Wednesday when the regular season starts including an all Ontario game between the Leafs & Ottawa.
There's always something, isn't there......
Here in Owen Sound, the Attack go home & home with Guelph; tonight at the Sleeman Centre and then tomorrow night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Tomorrow night, the Attack are conducting their first " Sticks for Soldiers " campaign of the season.
Saturday, & again on Saturday March 21st, Attack fans are asked to bring a new or gently used hockey stick to donate to soldiers stationed oversees.
The Attack will work with the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre’s Family Resource Centre in Meaford to collect the sticks at the games and have them packaged up to be sent oversees for the troops to use for recreation....and to a certain extent, for tension release.
Also this weekend, today through Sunday, Full Throttle Motor Speedway is conducting Canada's High Bank Nationals.
Today is a practice day and then both Saturday & Sunday, the gates open at 9 am.
The competitive racing begins Saturday afternoon at 3 with the Heats followed by the features at 6 pm
Then on Sunday, the Last Chance Qualifier is at noon, followed by the final afternoon of the competition.
Have a great weekend.
I'm Fred Wallace
