Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
It's football season at every level,
Closest to where I sit, there's an all Owen Sound matchup this afternoon in the Bluewater Football League pitting the two winners from the opening week head-to-head.
The St Mary's Mustangs will go down one hill and up another to meet the Wolves at Owen Sound District today.
The defending champion Mustangs opened their season with a 7-6 victory on the road, shading the Saugeen District Royals in Port Elgin.
Meanwhile at OSDSS last week, the Wolves won their opener 34-9 over the Grey Highlands Lions
Today's high school matchup serves as a decent primer for the pros and some significant games ahead this week and weekend.
Tomorrow night in the NFL Thursday nighter, the Green Bay Packers who are one of 7 teams at 3 & 0 early in the year host the Philadelphia Eagles who have started 1 & 2
Friday night, the Canadian Football League gets center stage as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are at Winnipeg to face the Blue Bombers.
Is this a preview of the Grey Cup ?
It's too early to say that but Hamilton is cruising atop the Eastern Division at 10 & 3 while the Bombers who are 9 & 4 share first place with the Calgary Stampeders in the West.
There are 3 more CFL games on Saturday.
All of which brings us back to Sunday where among the lineup of NFL games are two intriguing early afternoon matchups.
In Buffalo, the somewhat surprising Bills host the perennial contending New England Patriots in a AFC East matchup of undefeated teams.
Meanwhile in Detroit Sunday afternoon, the Lions who have 2 wins and a tie on the year host the 3 & 0 Kansas City Chiefs.
Bluewater-NFL-CFL Friday-CFL times 3 on Saturday and then NFL Sunday with two teams about to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten.
That's a good lineup of football over the next 5 days.
