Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The 13th annual Cobble Beach Pro-Am is set to begin on Sunday & will climax on Monday at the resort.
In fairness, this year's event will be hard pressed to surpass last year's for drama and excitement.
Alan McLean of Riverbend Golf Club won the 2018 Pro-Am at Cobble in a playoff over Matthew Peavoy from Scarborough Golf Club.
There was also a solid performance turned in last year by a Cobble Beach member, Stephen Bardswick, who tied for third place.
This year's event is filled with 32 playing professionals including the defending champion McLean who was a European Tour player for a period of time.
Cobble Beach Head Pro Warren Thomas was reluctant to handicap or predict who the top performers would be this year, but along with McLean, he thinks Danny King out of Magna who tied for 3rd last year will be a contender.
Plus, with appearances in the US Open and British Open on his resume, Danny Mijovic is also a definite contender in the opinion of Warren Thomas.
The biggest factor, no matter how accomplished any player in the Pro-Am is, will be the weather. When conditions are windy, like last year, scores are high. However, when the weather is pleasant, as seen in other years, record low scores can be posted.
It's notable too, that these top professionals are also part of an annual fundraiser to support G.R.A.C.E., the Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Equestrians.
Tee off time Sunday and Monday is 11:30 am for the 13th annual Cobble Beach Pro Am.
