Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The regular season in fastball for a couple of local leagues is coming to a climax.
Both the Owen Sound Men's Fastball League and the Grey Bruce Ladies League will conclude their 2019 seasons within the next week to 10 days, then it's playoff time.
It's also time for the annual Tom Sims Memorial Tournament staged annually at Meaford.
The 55th annual begins Friday at William Croft Athletic Field in Meaford and runs through Sunday afternoon.
There are 8 teams this year representing a number of fastball associations.
The Wiarton Nationals and Port Elgin Blue Devils both compete in the Bluewater Fastball League.
The Keady Jets and Allenford Astros are members of the Owen Sound Men's League
Those four are joined by Wiarton Howell's Fish, the Niagara Snappers, Petti's & the Rockwood Rush
All 8 teams will play their opening games on Friday night with the first matches set for 7:15 pm, followed by 2 more games at 9 pm
Every one will play twice on Saturday with games starting at 10 am and running all day.
The results of Friday & Saturday will determine who plays when on Sunday.
The Consolation semifinals begin Sunday at 10 am followed by Championship Flyte semifinals at noon.
The Consolation Final goes at 2, followed by the Tom Simms Memorial Championship Game around 4 pm.
There's fastball all over Grey & Bruce this week, and Friday through Sunday you can watch it all in one spot; William Croft Athletic Field in Meaford for the 2019 Tom Sims Memorial.
