Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Tonight is a special night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre as the final gala for outgoing-departing MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Larry Miller will be staged.
Through the years this event has been a terrific night, and truthfully, a terrific fundraiser for the local Conservative Association.
Over the course of a decade & a half, the Gala annually has been staged at this time of the year...ironically NEVER ONCE has the function conflicted with a Toronto Maple Leafs Playoff game......
Now that Alex Ruff is poised to take the helm, maybe that will change.
And while I won't be missing a Leafs playoff game tonight, I will miss the Junior B NorthStars game as they host the Elora Mohawks at 8 pm.
Having said that, I'll certainly have plenty of opportunity to see the Junior NorthStars this week.
After starting the season with 5 straight on the road, the Junior NorthStars are now half way through a sequence of 6 straight home games rammed into 11 days.
That's fast.
And lacrosse is fast, as I discovered Sunday night in Oakville in my first attempt at broadcasting Joe's Garage-Shorty's NorthStars Radio.
When I broadcast OHL Attack games, I often feel that I'm rushing.
Based on my observation Sunday when the Bug Juice NorthStars opened at Oakville, the pace of hockey is almost tortoise-like compared to lacrosse.
The Titans beat the Senior NorthStars 15-6 in Owen Sound's season opener.
Saturday the Bug Juice squad will be at Six Nations to face the undefeated Rivermen.
