Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Mid March is a great time of the local hockey season.
The Ontario Hockey League Owen Sound Attack conclude their regular season with a home-and-home set against the Kitchener Rangers.
The weekend set is of little consequence in the standings as Kitchener has already clinched 5th in the Western Conference while the Attack can finish no higher, and no lower, than 6th in the Conference.
Meanwhile, Game 4 of the Pollock Division Championship series is tonight in Mount Forest as the Patriots host the Wingham Ironmen.
Remarkably, the road team has won all 4 games and the series is tied at 2 going to Game 5 tonight at 8 pm in Mount Forest.
Game 6 is tomorrow night at 7 pm in Wingham....and if it goes the distance, Game 7 will be Sunday afternoon in Mount Forest.
Also on the go this weekend, the WOAA Senior Hockey Final 4 in the " AA " Division resume tonight.
In Clinton, the Radars host the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks while in Ripley, the Wolves host the Durham Thundercats.
As a testament to how good & how close these two semifinals have been, they're both tied up at 2 wins apiece going to the decisive weekend with the potential of 3 games in 3 nights in 4 communities a possibility.
Finally, what makes this time of the year truly special is the OMHA Finals.
In our region, the Leeder & Associate Atom Attack, the Harold Sutherland Constriction Peewee Attack, the Saugeen Shores Legion Peewees and the Shallow Lake Peewees have all advanced to their respective Championship Series.
Tomorrow in the OMHA openers, the Leeder & Associate Attack host the Barrie Junior Colts at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore, the Legion Peewees host Lambeth at the Plex while the Sutherland Construction Peewees open at Trenton while the Shallow Lake Peewees start at Millbrook.
Have a great weekend.
I'm Fred Wallace
