A letdown for the Goderich Flyers on home-ice Saturday, just 24 hours after claiming their first road victory of the Provincial Junior Hockey League season in Wingham.
Defenceman Wyatt Carey was set up by Trent Michie and newly-signed Ben Derraugh for the Flyers' only goal of the game at the Maitland Rec Centre, in a 2-1 loss to Hanover.
Carey's second-period marker on the power play tied the game 1-1, after Noah Johnson put the Barons ahead in the opening frame.
Jorden Reamen netted the game-winning goal for Hanover at 8:47 of the second period.
Flyers' head coach Chris Corbett says his club fell back on the bad habits that had cost them games in the past.
He mentions the feeling that the Flyers didn't take the Barons seriously enough after the 3-2 Goderich victory in Wingham Friday.
Much of Saturday's third period was played in the Goderich zone -- it was the only period in which the Flyers were outshot, and goaltender Kevin Linker was relied upon heavily.
The loss drops the Flyers into a sixth-place tie with the Barons at 6 wins, 23 losses and three overtime losses for 15 points in the PJHL Pollock Division, with Goderich holding two games in hand on Hanover.
In Saturday's only other Pollock Division matchup, Carter Collinson led Wingham with two goals including the game-winner, as the Ironmen dumped the Patriots 4-1 in Mount Forest.
The Flyers play in Walkerton at 7:50pm Wednesday, then return home to host Wingham at MRC Saturday at 7:35pm.
Hanover entertains Walkerton at the P and H Centre Friday at 8pm.
In the PJHL Yeck Division Saturday, Christian Petrozza scored both Exeter goals in a 2-1 victory at Dorchester.
