Russians Help Colts Get a Win

Barrie | by Ken Hashizume

Svechnikov with hat trick, Larzarev stops 34 shots in win over North Bay.

The Russians were taking care of business for the Barrie Colts.
Andrei Svechnikov had a hat trick while Leo Mazarev made 34 saves in a 3-1 victory over the North Bay Battalion on Thursday night.
Svechnikov's first goal came 2:21 into the first period.
He would score again at the 12:21 mark that period to make it 2-0 for the Colts (4-1-0-1).
Brady Lyle would cut Barrie's lead in half with his second period goal for the Battalion (3-1-1-0).
Svechnikov added an empty net goal late in the third to seal the win.
Mat Woroniuk stopped all 16 shots after coming in relief of Julian Sime (7 saves) at the 12:21 mark of the first.
One glaring blemish in the game for the Colts was their power play which went 0-for-9.
North Bay finished 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
The Colts head on the road for the next two games this weekend starting in Sarnia Friday night against the Sting.
