The Intercounty Fastball season wrapped up this weekend with the year end Double Knockout tournament on Friday night and Saturday. Friday nights early games had Grand Valley with an 8-1 win over Orangeville and Arthur winning 10-0 over Caledon East. In
the late games Arthur got a big lead on Rockwood in the early innings but couldn't hold on as Rockwood came back to win 12-11. On diamond 2 Grand Valley and Dundalk played scoreless for the first 8 innings. Each team got a run in the 9th but then it went
all the way to the 12th inning with Grand Valley getting the win 6-3.
On Saturday morning Arthur ended Orangevilles' season with a 10-0 win while Dundalk had a late inning comeback to beat Caledon East 4-3 thus ending their season. The 12 oclock game saw Rockwood guaranteeing themselves a spot in the final with a 5-3 win
over Grand Valley. Arthur then eliminated Dundalk with a 7-5 win. In the semi final Grand Valley scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th and then held on to beat Arthur 4-3 to advance to the final. In the first game of the final Grand Valley beat Rockwood
8-4 to force the double knockout game. In the 2nd game Grand Valley scored 4 runs in the first inning and held the lead the rest of the way capturing the IFL Championship with a 6-4 win.
Grand Valley will now represent the IFL at the Ontario Challenge Cup on Sep 22-24 as well as participate in the OASA mens C provincial championship in Napanee on Sep 16-17 as a result of a finalist placing at the qualifier earlier this month.
