Hornets Take Series Opener

Board and Nosad each with 2 goals, Nixon with 37 saves in Alliston's win over Stayner.


The Alliston Hornets draw first blood in the PJHL Carruthers Division Final.
 
The Hornets took Game 1 with a 5-0 shutout of the Siskins Thursday night.
 
Alliston were up 1-0 in the second period when they scored three times capped by a short-handed goal from Stephen Nosad with 5.5 seconds left for a 4-0 lead.
 
Nosad and Drake Board each had 2 goals, Board finished with 3 points.
 
The Siskins did have their opportunities to score in the game.
 
Stayner went on the power play 6 times and poured in 37 shots on Hornets goaltender Matthew Nixon.
 
Eric Pitcher had 27 saves for the Siskins.
 
Alliston went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
 
Game 2 of the best-of-seven goes Friday night at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston.
