IBL All-Stars Beat Canadian Junior Team in All-Star Game

Canada rallies from 5-0 down; Castaldo with 2 hits including home run for All-Stars in 6-4 win.


The Intercounty Baseball League All-Stars had to battle in their game against the Canadian Under-18 National Junior Team.
 
The IBL All-Stars built a 5-0 and hung on to win 6-4 Saturday afternoon in the annual All-Star Game at the Barrie Sports Complex.
 
The IBL All-Stars scored in each of the first 3 innings -- one in the first, two in the second, and 2 in the third.
 
Team Canada replied with 4 runs in their half of the 5th capped off with a 2-run single by Tyler Duncan to cut the IBL All-Star's lead to 5-4.
 
Tanner Nivens of the Kitchener Panthers drove in an insurance run in the 8th for the All-Stars for a 6-4 lead.
 
Jordan Castaldo of the Barrie Baycats and Brandon Dailey of the Brantford Red Sox each hit 2-run home runs.
 
Castaldo finished 2-for-3 and was named game MVP for the IBL All-Stars.
 
Duncan went 2-for-4 and took the honours for Team Canada.
 
Cooper Davis and Noah Taylor also had two hits a piece for Team Canada who outhit the IBL All-Stars 13-9.
 
League play resumes on Sunday for the Baycats as they travel to London for a double-header against the Majors.
