Colts Bury Steelheads to Win Series
Scott with hat trick in Barrie's 5-1 win over Mississauga, Colts now face North Bay.
Great Scott. Justin does it again for Barrie.
The Colts forward led another third period comeback in Tuesday's series clinching win over the Steelheads.
Justin Scott had a hat trick, the Colts scored five goals in that period to beat Mississauga 5-1 and take the OHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series in 7 games.
Michael McLeod opened the scoring for the Steelheads with his 2nd period goal at the 12:17 mark for a 1-0 lead.
Scott responded 4:20 into the 3rd to tie the game at 1-1 then Andrew Mangiapane scored less than 5 minutes later to put the Colts up 2-1.
Scott finished with 10 goals in the first round series -- 4 coming in a Game 4 come-from-behind overtime win in Mississauga.
Kevin Labanc (1 goal, 2 assists) also had a 3-point night while Mackenzie Blackwood finished with 22 saves for the Colts.
Jack Flinn had 33 for the Steelheads in what was his final OHL game along with fellow overagers Josh Burnside and Mason Marchment.
For the 3rd year in a row, the Colts will take on the North Bay Battalion in the 2nd round of the OHL playoffs.
Game 1 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semifinal goes Thursday night in Barrie.
