Colts Back Home, Blank Steelheads
Nattinen with 4 points, Ovsjannikov with 27 saves for 8-0 shutout for Barrie.
It is home sweet home for the Barrie Colts.
They snapped a two-game losing skid with an exclamation point beating the Mississauga Steelheads 8-0 on Saturday.
Julius Nattinen led the way with a goal and 3 assists and Dylan Sadowy with 2 goals and an assist.
The Colts carried a 3-0 lead into the 2nd period when Keegan Goetz was assessed a major penalty for a check to the head.
Barrie were able to kill it off and followed it with 3 goals in a 2-minute span, 5 in the period.
4 other Colts had multi-point games -- Kevin Labanc (1 goal, 2 assists), Rasmus Andersson (3 assists), Michael Webster (1 goal, 1 assist), and Andrew Mangiapane (1 goal, 1 assist).
David Ovsjannikov stopped all 27 shots for his first career OHL shutout.
Jack Flinn allowed all 8 goals on 22 shots for the Steelheads (30-27-1-3) before being pulled in favour of Joseph Murdaca (11 saves) at the start of the third period.
Barrie went 3-for-5 on the power play, Mississauga finished 0-for-3.
The Colts (36-20-0-2) have won their last 7 at home and have at least a point in their last 14 home games.
The next game for the Colts is this Thursday night when they welcome the Ottawa 67s to the Barrie Molson Centre.
