Islanders Win in Playoff Opener
Lalonde with 26 saves, Hylena with two goals for Parry Sound in 5-2 win.
A big third period helping the Parry Sound Islanders take the first game of their second round GMHL playoff series.
Miroslav Hylena scored two goals in the Islanders' 5-2 victory over the South Muskoka Shield Friday night.
Hylena's first goal of the game gave Parry Sound a 1-0 first period lead.
Ladislav Garry tied it up for South Muskoka midway through the second then Alfred Panelin-Borg put the Shield ahead 2-1 with his power play goal with 11 seconds left in the period.
The Islanders responded early in the third on Hylena's second goal of the game to tie is up at 2-2.
They would take a 3-2 lead five minutes later on a goal by Tobias Mrkvicka.
Enver Presheva and Joshua Vaughan added empty net goals for the Islanders towards the end of the game.
Justin Lalonde made 26 saves for the Islanders while Robin Gustavsson stopped 29 shots for the Shield.
Both teams went 1-for-3 on the power play.
