Colts Win 8th Straight
Mangiapane with another hat trick, Labanc reaches 100 points again in Barrie win.
Score, win, repeat. That's what the Barrie Colts have been doing the past eight games.
Andrew Mangiapane collected his fifth hat trick this season -- the third in the last seven games -- as the Colts down the Guelph Storm 5-1 in the OHL on Saturday.
Mangiapane scored the first two goals of the game -- one in the first period and one in the second -- for a 2-0 lead.
With Colts up 3-1, they struck again while short-handed getting goals from Julius Nattinen and Mangiapane 26 seconds apart for a 5-1 Barrie lead.
Nattinen (1 goal, 2 assists) and Kevin Labanc (3 assists) finished with 3 points each.
Labanc's assist on Mangiapane's second goal gave the San Jose draft pick 100 points for a 2nd consecutive season.
Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 34 shots for the Colts (34-16-0-2).
Matt Hotchkiss had the only goal for the Storm (11-35-4-2) while Bradley Van Schubert made 30 saves.
The next game for the Colts is Monday afternoon when they travel to Kingston to take on the Frontenacs in a battle for first place in the OHL's Eastern Conference.
