WOAA Senior Playoffs Commence

Saugeen Shores | by John Divinski

Roedger and Winterhawks host Durham to open WOAA Hockey playoffs.

The WOAA Senior hockey playoffs begin with the Durham Thundercats facing off against the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks.

They'll play a best of seven WOAA league quarter final -- or North Division semi-final.

The two teams met three times during the regular season with Durham taking two games on their home ice and the Winterhawks one, on their home ice.

Hawks coach Peter Roedger believes the series will be a tough one and a close one.

Roedger says the team is healthy for the most part.

He says they need to continue the momentum they started in January with lots of wins.

In the regular season standings, the Thundercats ended up in second place, 6-points ahead of the third place Winterhawks.

Game one of the playoffs is Friday night at the Plex.

Game time is 8:30 PM.

The other league quarter final series has the 4th place Shallow Lake Crushers up against the first place Mapleton Minto 81's.
