Flinn Returns with Mississauga; Memorial Cup Champions in Town
The Owen Sound Attack are set to ring in the New Year with a pair of games at home on January 1 and 2.
Celebrating New Year's Day with a 2:00pm tilt, the Attack host the Mississauga Steelheads for the first and only time in the 2015/16 season when the Trout travel up Highway 6&10 on Friday.
Owen Sound will look to continue their hot play as of late when the Central Division's 2nd place team arrives in town.
The Attack are on a three game winning streak thanks to a 4-2 victory over the North Bay Battalion on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Owen Sound has also put together a stretch of five wins in their last six games dating back to Saturday, Dec. 12.
Mississauga comes into Friday's game with a record of 18-15-1-3, putting them at 40 points on the year thanks in large part to the play of former Attack netminder Jack Flinn.
Flinn and Bryson Cianfrone, who were traded for one another on the first day of the Ontario Hockey League season, will both be taking on their former teams for the first time since the trade when the puck drops on Friday.
Cianfrone helps lead the Attack into the weekend with 22 points in 29 games on the year, good for 3rd in team scoring behind Santino Centorame and fellow overager Josh Sterk.
The Attack will then wrap up their week of action on Saturday night when they play host to the Oshawa Generals in 7:30pm affair at the Bayshore.
Oshawa currently sits in 9th in the Eastern Conference with 31 points and a 13-18-3-2 standing through 36 games.
The defending Memorial Cup Champions will also be making their first and only appearance in Owen Sound for the 2015-16 season, and are powered by leading scorer Joe Manchurek's 29 points in 35 games played.
Tickets for both games on the weekend are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
Fans are reminded that the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office will be closed at NOON on Thursday, Dec. 31 and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 1 at NOON.
