Walkerton Defeats Flyers

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

Lauchlin Elder leads with three goals in 8-2 Hawks victory

The first-place Walkerton Hawks have put some space between themselves and Kincardine in the Western Junior C Hockey League standings, with an 8-2 victory over the Goderich Flyers.

The Hawks now have 37 points to 33 for Kincardine.

League scoring leader Lauchlin Elder led Walkerton with three goals at MRC Sunday afternoon, and Reid Simmons had two.

Jordan Pepper responded for Goderich on a feed from Tyler McCracken mid-way through the second period.

Cole McKee and Brad MacIntyre set up Jack Francis for the Flyers' second goal late in the final frame.

Fatigue may have been a factor for the Flyers, who had played Saturday night.

The Hawks were the league's only idle team that night.

Goderich travels to Mount Forest next Saturday, while Walkerton hosts Hanover also on Saturday.
