Junior C All-Stars Play Saturday

Mitchell | by Peter Jackson

The best of the Western and Georgian Bay-Mid Ontario leagues face off in Mitchell

The best players in the Western Junior C Hockey League meet the best of the Georgian Bay-Mid Ontario Junior C League in all-star action in Mitchell.

Goderich Flyers' Director of Player Personnel Doug Cruickshank says the team's lone representative on the Western All-Star roster is forward Chace Duckworth.

Duckworth leads Goderich in scoring with six goals and 15 points through all 18 games the team has played so far this season.

Cruickshank tells us there is hope for the future for the Flyers, who send Noah Kuno and Trent Michie to the Prospects game.

Kuno and Michie are the second and third top scoring players on the Flyers' roster.

Kuno missed several games because of injury, but still scored five goals and 13 points through 14 games.

Michie's seven goals and nine points have been scored through 18 games.

Cruickshank points out that Goderich has the youngest roster of all seven Western Junior C clubs, and it's an accomplishment to send two players to the Prospects game.

Walkerton dominates the All-Star roster with six representatives, while Mitchell and Mount Forest each send five players to the Prospects game.

The All-Star game faces off at 4pm Saturday and the Propsects game goes at 6pm at Mitchell and District Arena.
