The largest victory in the Goderich Flyers' brief history likely had more to do with the effects of a prolonged closed-door team meeting Saturday night, than last night's Supermoon eclipse.
Recently acquired forward Luke Fraser scored four goals including a hat-trick in the first period, and defenceman Tyler McCracken chipped in three as the Flyers overpowered the Mitchell Hawks 11-5 in Western Junior C hockey Sunday night.
The win came less than 24 hours after Goderich fell 6-1 to Mount Forest at MRC, which dropped Goderich to an 0-and-5 record to start the season.
With the loss, the Hawks remain the league's only winless team.
The Flyers built up a 6-2 lead through 20 minutes of play, and led 9-4 after two periods.
Goderich rookie Kyle Langlois scored his second goal in the Junior C ranks in as many nights with Brad MacIntyre, Jesse McIntyre and Trent Michie rounding out the scoring.
Flyers' goaltender Nathan Watson rebounded from his loss at home Saturday to make 25 saves in posting the victory.
The Flyers travel to Walkerton Friday night before returning home to face Wingham on Saturday, while Mitchell visits Hanover Friday.
In Western Junior C matinee play yesterday, Ryan Hamelin scored the game-winner and posted an assist in Walkerton's 4-1 home-ice win over Wingham.
