Knights Lose Opener

Riverkings rally to win GMHL Opener 5-3 over the Knights of Meaford.

The Knights of Meaford lost their opening game in the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League.

The Oshawa Riverkings defeated the Knights 5-3.

The Riverkings scored four third period goals -- including two in 17 seconds -- to overcome a 3-0 Meaford lead.

Derek Boudreault, Brandon Bavis and Matej Moska scored for Meaford.

The Knights will play their next two games at Alliston September 24th and October 1st

Meaford will play their first four games on the road before their home opener October 15th against the Bradford Rattlers.

Elsewhere on Monday night, the Shelburne Sharks downed the Orangeville Ice Crushers 6-4.

The Toronto Predators hammered the Brantford Steelfighters 11-1.

The Bradford Bulls also beat the Colborne Chiefs 10-2.
