Baycats Escape with Win

Hamilton almost came back from 6 down; Atkinson goes 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs for Barrie.

The Baycats escaped with a win over the visiting Cardinals on Tuesday.
 
Kevin Atkinson went 5-for-5, drove in 3, and scored twice as the Baycats edged the Hamilton Cardinals 9-8 in Intercounty League action.
 
The two teams split the home-and-home set.
 
Barrie scored 5 times in the 5th inning to take a 6-1 lead.
 
They would go up 8-2 when Hamilton put up 6 runs in the top half of the 8th to tie the game at 8-8.
 
But the Baycats would take the lead again with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
 
Kyle DeGrace also had a big night at the plate for the Baycats (14-3) with 3 hits with an R-B-I and 2 runs scored.
 
Chris England went 5-and-two-thirds innings giving up 2 runs on 9 hits while striking out 7.
 
Luke Wilson and Nick Mastervick each had 3 hits for the Cardinals (5-14).
 
Both teams combined for 29 hits -- only 3 were for extra bases.
 
The Baycats will host the London Majors Wedesday night at Coates Stadium.
