Otters Too Much For Hounds

Erie, PA | by Manny Paiva

McDavid gets 5 points and Erie advances to OHL Final with 7-3 win in Game 6.

Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters are going to play for the OHL Championship.

McDavid and the Otters were just too powerful for Sault Ste. Marie as Erie beat the Greyhounds 7-3 on Saturday to win the Western Conference Championship in six games.

McDavid scored once and added four assists in Game 6.

Alex DeBrincat had a hat trick for Erie with Nicholas Baptiste, Jake Marchment and Nick Betz rounding out the attack.

Jared McCann, Darnell Nurse and Michael Bunting found the back of the net for Sault Ste. Marie.

Devin Williams turned aside 24 shots for the win in net.

Brandon Halverson made 22 saves in the loss.

The game was tied 2-2 when it turned -- Hayden Verbeek of the Greyhounds received a match penalty for slew footing Erie's goalie at 6:21 of the second period.

The Otters converted three times on five power-play chances, while Sault Ste. Marie was 2 for 4.

The Erie Otters will wait to face either the Oshawa Generals or North Bay Battalion in the OHL final.

The Generals lead the series 3-2 and Game 6 is in North Bay at 2 PM on Sunday.
