Ironmen Advance to Junior C Final

Wingham eliminates Kincardine in six games to set up rematch for Western title.

The Wingham Ironmen have advanced to the Western Junior C Hockey Championship Series.

The Ironmen beat the Kincardine Bulldogs 3-2 at the Davidson Centre on Friday to win the semifinal series in six games.

Holdyn Lansink scored the game winning goal at 6:51 on the third period.

Matt McCracken and Alex Kuntz also scored for the Ironmen while Chad Simpson and Patrick Weijak replied for the Bulldogs.

Ben Nelson got the win in goal for Wingham, making 28 saves.

Mitch Campbell made 38 saves in the loss for Kincardine.

The top seeded Wingham Ironmen will now face the second seed Walkerton Hawks in a rematch of last year's Western Junior C Hockey Final.

The two first two games are set.

Game 1 is Sunday at 6 PM in Wingham and Game 2 is Friday in Walkerton at 7:20 PM.

The Hawks advanced to the finals after eliminating the Hanover Barons in five games.
